This calculator computes the volume of thinner to add to a given volume of paint for sprayer application, using the formula: Thinner volume = Paint volume × (thinning percentage / 100). Total mix volume is then calculated as Paint volume + Thinner volume. The default thinning ratio of 10% falls within the commonly cited 5–15% range for latex paints and 10–20% for oil-based paints used in sprayers. Results scale linearly with the paint volume and ratio entered, so adjusting either input immediately updates both thinner volume and total mix volume.
