This tool calculates the number of ceiling joists needed for a room by dividing the span length by the chosen on-center spacing, then adding one joist to close the far end. The formula applied is N = ⌈L ÷ s⌉ + 1, where L is the room span and s is the joist spacing — using ceiling division to ensure full coverage across the span.
