How the room modes calculator works
Each room dimension supports a standing wave whose fundamental frequency is the speed of sound divided by twice that dimension, with harmonics at each multiple. The tool works out the fundamental for length, width and height and their second harmonics, then flags when two fundamentals fall within 5% of each other — the sign of an uneven, boomy bass region.
